Playground Construction

September 11, 2010 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Lumber and playground hardware will be provided as well as instructions and build plans. Volunteers will gather at 8 AM on Sat, May 22 at Barge Lincoln. Build activity is planned until 5 PM. The project will be completed the following Sat, May 29.

200 Sandwiches

Every Friday. 7:30 am - 9:00 am

Every Friday members of the St. Paul faith community meet to assemble 200 sandwiches for the homeless. Volunteers welcome.

Back-to School-Supplies

Every weekend in August. Churches decide dates. -

Churches gather school supplies over the next 3 months; then hold an activity for neighborhood children and hand out the supplies to the kids. Saturdays or Sundays in August.

Garfield Elementary Cleanup

Date TBD -

The Garfield school playground is the community park for the neighborhood. Several things are needed: continue mural painting on main building, paint playground equipment, garden area needed on south side of the gym. Date TBD

Davis H.S. Breakfast Outreach

Every Thursday during the school year. 7:00 am - 8:00 am

Every Thursday in the school year, Bethlehem Lutheran Church has a table in front of church with Bibles, breakfast snacks, bottled water and hot cocoa.

Volunteer Chore Services

Summer 2010 (half or full day depending on work) 8:00 am -

Yard clean up for the low-income elderly/disabled population.

Life Choices

Fridays/Saturdays- 3:30 until completed. 3:30 pm -

Remodel, paint, set up for the disabled, etc. Fridays and Saturdays until project is complete. We will be working after the clinic closes.

New/Used clothing distribution. We have a contact in King County who picks up several loads of new clothing (primarily children and baby clothing). We have had several hundred attend each distribution.

Easter Baskets

Friday Night Live

Every Friday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Feeding the hungry and homeless of Yakima. Happens every Friday night at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

Painting a Neighbor's Home

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Franklin Hill is partnering with the city’s Neighborhood Development Services to paint a home of either a disabled person, a veteran or an elderly person in the church’s neighborhood around the Nob Hill Plaza. Date t.b.d.

Kiwanis Park to Fair Grounds Clean-Up 2010

In coordination with the Office of Neighborhood Development there will be a ‘Day Of Service’ on June 19. Many hands will make this day a success for our community by providing services to many homeowners in need around the fair grounds.

TigerMart Cleanup

We are going to clean up the abandoned Tiger Mart lot; landscaping, painting, fence replacement, etc.

Madison House Youth Mission

Kids Hope USA

Elementary School Mentoring:
Volunteers from Faith Community Church in Zillah meet with students one day a week for a mentoring time.

Summer Learning Adventure

M-F in July. 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Summer school for K-1st graders. We need vans and drivers to pick up and take home 40 children living in east Yakima. We also need teachers’ helpers for individual attention and supervision.

Back To School Bash

Supply collection will continue until the 21st. 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free School Supply Giveaway. One day event, but supply collection has already begun and will continue until the distribution. Get in touch to help out, or donate supplies.

Rod’s House is a drop-in center for homeless youth. Rod’s House is in a growing phase. The program and site facility are in need of many physical supplies as well as general financial support.
